ORGANISATION INFO

We build stronger communities and better places through arts and culture. We create experiences and tell stories of place that are electrifying, authentic and uniquely Gold Coast. As the City of Gold Coast’s leading independent arts organisation, Placemakers* Gold Coast puts culture first when planning for a vibrant, liveable and evolved city. We are solutions-focused, creative and flexible in realising cultural activations as part of a broader planning and development strategy.

Whether we’re embedding art, culture and the voice of the community into the planning and visioning of public spaces or rolling out tailored community events in the neighbourhood, we consistently exceed client and community expectations, delivering out of the box, unexpected and transformational cultural experiences that shift perceptions of a place and build community.

We have an excellent reputation for delivering large-scale place-based experiences, a perfect example being our annual festival, BLEACH* and BIG CITY LIGHTS*. BLEACH* is the Gold Coast's annual contemporary arts festival and BIG CITY LIGHTS is a new festival of light, design, installation and performance.

Claire thinks about art, she travels for art, reads about art, watches shows about art, talks about art and values art. She truly believes that art helps to have challenging conversations, to amplify quietened voices, connect communities, and enable deep listening experiences that create genuine change.

Claire has over 10 years’ experience working in events having been involved in the development, organisation and delivery of an eclectic mix of events in a variety of different industries including universities, not for profits, craft beer and hospitality. These events ranged from camps for young people, large scale fundraising dinners, and academic symposiums to more intimate experiences such as brewery tours, themed dining functions, and bespoke brewery events for a range of customers and clients.

Most recently, she has been at Placemakers* Gold Coast for more than six years and has worked across the Gold Coast on a wide variety of events. She has a passion for large scale, site specific work and the challenges they can present – she loves to solve a problem. Claire graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Applied Theatre in 2006 and returned to complete her Master of Arts and Media (Research) in 2015.
