VENUE The Glen Eira Storytelling Festival is an all-ages Arts and Culture Festival that focuses on storytelling in all its forms, while embracing the hybrid live-online model. It challenges us to think about who we are in the world and how we can make a better future. In 2023 it is mooted to be held in early August as a winter festival. It will be held primarily in the Caulfield Town Hall in the Theatrette (120 seats) and the Auditorium (up to 500 capacity but can be configured more intimately). Also Studio Two Gallery space. In addition, the Glen Eira City Council has a strong focus on sustainability, cultural diversity, First Nation recognition and climate emergency.

PROGRAMMING OBJECTIVES High-quality, powerful storytelling in its broadest sense. Includes sharp comedy, theatre, music, musical theatre, literary events etc. for Glen Eira Storytelling Festival. We are also on the lookout for large and innovative family-friendly outdoor installations for the City of Glen Eira's major events program.

AUDIENCE

Diverse audiences and age groups including family, adult, seniors, children and youth. This is a free and low cost Festival that prides itself on inclusivity. Primarily targeted at the local community spanning Bentleigh, Bentleigh East, Brighton East, Carnegie, Caulfield, Elsternwick, Gardenvale, Glen Huntly, McKinnon, Murrumbeena, Ormondand St Kilda East in Melbourne and some local tourism. Glen Eira has a significant Jewish community and substantial Asian and Indian communities.

Suzanne Olb is Director of the Glen Eira Storytelling Festival which she has steered for six years. She is lead programmer for the Glen Eira City Council Arts and Culture team and brings a well-honed creative focus to the role. She is a veteran of creative programming, having spent 21 years as co-director of explosivemedia arts focussed dynamic event management with her late partner Russell Field. Projects have ranged from programming European shows in Australia through to Melbourne’s New Year’s Eve and City of Melbourne’s ‘Summer Fun in the Parks/City’.

She has also produced Food and Wine Festivals, Arts Centre Melbourne projects, First Nation showcases and international ‘Sister City’ events and festivals. Suzanne’s experience in the Arts industry began in communications. Between reviewing the arts for publications including the Sydney Review and The Bulletin, Suzanne edited Australia’s national performing arts magazine, New Theatre: Australia, then joined the Victorian Arts Council as Communications Manager.

She holds a Master of Publishing and Communications and has regularly travelled interstate and internationally to keep abreast of Industry and artistic developments.
