Do you need a venue for your Fringe show? Maribyrnong Arts and Culture is offering free venue hire of the Bluestone Church Arts Space to independently produced shows by artists from the West for the 2021 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
If you are producing your own show and need a space to put your work on, the Bluestone Church Arts Space could be just the ticket. Selected artists are responsible for producing and marketing their own shows, including Fringe registrations, box office and technical operations – and will receive free venue hire and marketing support through Council’s channels while retaining all box office takings.
What Maribyrnong Arts and Culture will provide:
Maribyrnong City Council (MCC) are offering the following to selected artists:
- In-kind (free) use of the Bluestone Church Arts Space for 1-6 performance days with a maximum of 2 performances per day.
- A dedicated Venue Manager, who will be a point of contact for selected artists and run the bar. Please note the Venue Manager is not contracted to provide tech and FOH support, but this can be arranged for an additional fee.
- Marketing support through MCC channels, including:
- Art Bytes eNews (~800 subscribers)
- Instagram (~1,500 followers)
- Facebook (~2,500 followers)
- Maribyrnong Arts and Culture website
- Inclusion in Midsumma Westside promotions
- Artists keep 100% of box office income, less any fees Melbourne Fringe Festival may charge (full details available on the website)
- Basic lighting and sound setup, portable theatre drape system and HD web camera which may be shared by all the artists/shows throughout the Midsumma season (see technical details below for additional information)
- Council reserves the exclusive right to run a bar during Melbourne Fringe Festival. Artists/shows will not receive a cut or percentage of alcohol sales.

Selection Criteria
- Artists who reside in or have a strong connection to the Maribyrnong City Council area will be prioritised. Artists from neighbouring municipalities in the Western suburbs will also be looked upon favourably.
- Artists must be independent practitioners with the capacity to create, produce and market their own work.
- Consideration will be given in the selection process to the principles and themes articulated in the Maribyrnong City Council Arts and Culture Strategy 2018 – 2023
